What Happens in CBT Therapy for Pregnancy after Baby Loss?

Tackle Anxiety and Trauma
We'll work on strategies to manage anxiety, PTSD symptoms, and stress, helping you feel grounded during the sensitive time of pregnancy after loss, feeling less stuck in the past.

Process Grief and Baby Loss
Together, we’ll create a safe space for your grief, honouring the past while opening the door to new hope. Through the miscarriage counselling and stillbirth therapy, I will provide you a safe space to come to terms with the baby loss.

Build Emotional Strength
We’ll develop practical tools to help you navigate difficult emotions, build resilience, and embrace your pregnancy with more confidence.

My Approach as Your Therapist

Compassionate
I’ll create a warm, non-judgmental space where you can freely express your thoughts and feelings. If you’re feeling overwhelmed with anxiety during a session, we may slow down, pause, and practice a grounding technique together to bring you back to the present moment. I'll listen deeply to your experiences of loss and validate your emotions, helping you feel understood and supported in the healing process. For example, if discussing a difficult memory, I might gently guide you through visualisation or breathing exercises to reduce distress.

Evidence-Based
When we work on managing your anxiety, I’ll use proven therapeutic techniques from CBT (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy), ACT (Acceptance and Commitment Therapy), and CFT (Compassion Focused Therapy). For instance, if you’re catastrophising about your upcoming birth, we’ll collaboratively identify and challenge those thoughts using CBT exercises. You’ll learn how to shift your focus from 'what if' scenarios to more balanced, reality-based thinking. I might also introduce mindfulness techniques from ACT to help you sit with uncomfortable emotions rather than avoid them, encouraging emotional flexibility.

Empowering
In the therapy room, I’ll equip you with practical tools that you can apply in real-life situations. For example, if you’re feeling disconnected from your baby due to fear of loss, we might practice guided visualisations to foster bonding or explore self-compassion exercises from CFT to soften self-criticism. You'll leave each session with actionable strategies, like journaling prompts to reframe anxious thoughts or daily practices to connect with your pregnancy, helping you take control of your journey towards hope and peace.

Have questions about the therapy?

Q&A
  • The length of therapy depends on your unique situation and needs. Typically, clients find 6-12 sessions helpful for managing anxiety and processing their emotions. However, some may benefit from longer-term support, particularly if they’ve experienced multiple losses or have complex trauma.

  • Each therapy session costs £100 for 50 minutes. Payment is required 48 hours before the appointment via a secure payment link sent to your email. Please note that I offer therapy exclusively to self-funded clients, meaning sessions are paid privately. I do not work with insurance companies or public health services.

  • The first step is to schedule a free 15-minute call with me. This initial conversation allows us to determine whether we're a good fit and how I can best support you on your journey.

  • At the moment, I’m only offering therapy services to clients within the UK, but I’m working on expanding my offerings internationally through online workshops and courses.

  • I understand that sometimes life can be unpredictable. If you need to cancel or reschedule a session, I kindly ask for at least 48 hours' notice. Cancellations made less than 48 hours before the appointment will be charged the full session fee, as it’s often difficult to fill the slot at short notice. This policy applies to both therapy and supervision sessions.
